The possibility of undercounting in the forthcoming 2011 census was discussed at a joint HVA/HBC workshop held today at the Magnet Centre. A lively discusson took place involving 40 service providers and community members which will help shape a local action plan. Specifically HVA will be writing to the Minister responsiuble for the Census at the request of the conference about the lack of any information gathering trelating to the GLTB community. Speaking after the event HVAs DIrector Steve Manwaring siad:-
"The census is an enormous opportunity to profile the needs of the Town and its population. It is vital that communities and service providers work together to diminish the possibilituy of undercounting as so much funding and service planning is based on this data."
HVA will be publishing a summary from the event and further details about the Census can be found here:-
